Barber, Ruddick, Owens Claim Feature Events

Mark Barber of North Vernon, Indiana roared to his third victory on the season at the Brownstown Speedway from his third starting position on the grid. Brad Barrow would lead the field to Tim Montgomery's green flag, and would lead the first circuit ahead of Jeff Wilson, and Barber. Barber would move to second on the second lap, as he got around Wilson coming out of turn number two. Barber had his sights set on Barrow now, as he would try to get under him on lap three, but to no avail. On the fourth lap, Barber would finally get around Barrow for the lead as the duo came out of turn four. Behind them, a battle for a top five position would start to take place between Ricky Riggle and Dion Deason. Deason would hold onto his fifth position, leaving Riggle in sixth. Riggle would try again on lap seven, but Deason would hold him off once more. The first caution of the race fell on lap 11 for the spun car of Ernie Barrow in turn four. The second yellow of the race would fly on the restart for Frankie Coomer in turn two. On the third try, the battle for fifth between Riggle and Deason would continue, with Deason continuously holding off Riggle. Lap 16 would see the third and final caution of the race, as Shannon Reed would go spinning off the turn four banking. Barber would lead the field to the restart with Barrow, Wilson, Steve Godsey, and Deason in tow. To show how much of a pace Barber was setting, four laps after the restart he had a full straighaway lead over Barrow. With the win pretty much in the bag for Barber, Barrow would have to contend with Wilson for the second spot. Wilson would finally get the spot as the field took the white flag. Barber would cruise onto the victory, followed by Wilson, Barrow, Deason, and Riggle would round out the top five. Jim Ruddick of Seymour, IN took home his first ever Super Stock feature win at the Brownstown Speedway, holding off a charge from Jeff Walters at the finish. The feature started with a yellow on the start for the spun car of Kevin Applegate in turn four. The next start was voided due to debris in turn one. When racing finally got to commence, Jeff Walters would lead lap number one, with Ruddick right on his tail. On the second lap, Ruddick would get by Walters for the lead on the backstretch. The caution would fly on lap three, for the stalled car of Jason Hehman on the frontstretch. The restart would be called back for a false start. When racing resumed, a battle for fourth would commence between Rick Applegate and Kevin Jones. Jones would keep the spot, holding Applegate to fifth. Applegate would now have to worry about David Brewer, who wanted the fifth position away from him. Applegate would keep the fifth spot, as the yellow would fly for Jason Johnson. On the restart, Applegate would finally get around Jones for the fourth spot. A three way battle would then take place between Brewer, Applegate, and Tim Clark for the fifth position. Clark would take fifth, Brewer would be in sixth, with Applegate seventh. Clark would then move up to challenge Jones for the fourth position. Jones would hold him off as the field took the white flag. Up front, Walters had closed in on Ruddick who enjoyed a healthy lead throughout the race. When the duo came out of four, Walters tried a move to the inside, but Ruddick was too strong at the end. Ruddick would finish ahead of Walters, Jones, Jay Deckard, and Clark would round out the top five. Ruddick is sponsored by: C & O Auto Parts, Cockerhams Signs and Graphics, NAPA, Bedels Transmissions, Nightcrawler Chassis, Bryant Products, and the #0 is powered by a KMI Competition Engine

Paul Owens made it two straight in the Bomber Division at the Brownstown Speedway, holding off Steve Godsey for the win at the end of the 15 lap affair. Robert Walters would lead the field to the green flag, and would lead lap number one. Behind him, Godsey and Owens would battle it out for the second spot. Owens would win that battle, keeping Godsey in third with Matt Cummings fourth, and Ray Godsey Sr. in fifth. On the fifth lap, Owens would challenge Walters for the lead. Walters would lose the point to Owens and sit in the runner up spot. Behind them a battle for the fifth position started brewing between Godsey Sr. and Clifton Barron. Barron would take the spot and move up to challenge Cummings for fourth. At this time, Walters would start spewing smoke out of the back of the car while running second. This would allow Steve Godsey to take the second spot away from Walters. Steve Godsey would then move up to challenge Owens for the point, only to be denied by the caution on lap 11 for Kenny Leahy. During this caution period, Walters who was running third, would be pushed to the pit area. The yellow would halt the restart as well, as Brandon Routier would loop it on the backstretch. When racing resumed, a four wide battle for the third position would take place between Godsey Sr., Cummings, Barron, and Darrell Burton. Cummings would win the war, and take the third spot. Somewhere in that mess, Jim Pfeiffer would slide into the fourth spot out of nowhere. Up front, however, Owens would hold off all challenges for his third victory on the season. Trailing him at the line was: Steve Godsey, Cummings, Pfeiffer, and Burton rounded out the top five. Owens is sponsored by: Bent Chassis, Big Arn, and DAM Racing Engines by John Davis.
