Mike Jewell Feature Winner
Boknecht, Hines, Fields, Phelps, Norman Victorious

By Chris Nunn

The Super Late Model feature saw Mike Jewell and Marty O'Neal bring the field to the green with Jewell leading Jeremy Hines to the stripe in second. Joe Deckard spun in turn three resulting in a complete restart. On the second attempt, Jewell led Jason Smith to the line to complete lap one. Hines moved in to battle with Smith for the second spot on lap four. Steve Barnett moved around O'Neal to take the fourth position on lap five. By lap seven, Jewell held almost a full straight lead over Smith. Barnett overtook Hines for third spot on lap nine. At the halfway point, Hines and Barnett moved around Smith to put him back to fourth. O'Neal completed the top five. With five to go, Jewell held a half straight lead over the battle for second between Hines and Barnett. Barnett was able to take second coming to the stripe. Barnett then set sail for Jewell with just four to go, and was reeling him in. As the field took the two to go signal, Jewell and Barnett hit lapped traffic. This allowed Barnett to close in and move within a car length of Jewell. Jewell was able to hold off Barnett by a car length at the line.

Matt Boknecht and Jacoby Hines brought the UMP Modified field to the green flag with Hines leading Boknecht to the line by a nose to complete lap one. The caution flew on lap two, as Larry Booher spun on the backstretch. Hines led the field to the restart, with Boknecht and Devin Gilpin in tow. A three way battle took shape for the fourth spot between Ryan Thomas, Jeff Bland Jr, and Earl Plessinger. Thomas was able to hold the spot, with Plessinger fifth. The caution flew on lap five, as a multi-car incident occured in turn four. When racing resumed, Boknecht and Hines battled for the lead, as Thomas took third from Gilpin. The caution flew on lap six, as Brian Yeatman and Bland got together coming out of turn three. Bland would get to keep his spot in sixth as he was deemed taken out. The restart would be brought back due to a three car pileup in turn two. Boknecht took the lead on the restart, only to see it brought back due to another caution. The lap six restart saw Boknecht shoot out to a three car length lead over Hines and Thomas. Plessinger had worked past Gilpin for the fourth spot on lap eight. At the halfway point it was Boknecht, Hines, Thomas, Gilpin, and Plessinger completing the top five. The caution flew again on lap ten, as Booher spun in turn four. Boknecht shot out to the lead again on the restart as the caution flew yet again, this time for Webb Lee in turn four. Thomas took the second spot from Hines on lap 13, only to see Hines fight back to the bottom to try to take the spot back on lap 14. With four to go, Boknecht held a half straight lead over Thomas and Hines. Behind them, Richie Lex had moved into the fourth position after coming from the back of the field. Boknecht was able to cruise to the win ahead of Hines, Lex, Hines, and Plessinger.

The 20 lap UMP Super Stock feature saw Jeremy Hines lead the first lap over Troy Clark and Jason Hehman. Clark moved to the inside of Hines on lap two to attempt to take the lead from Hines. Hines was able to hold him off by a nose on lap three. Hines and Clark, by lap six, held a full straightaway advantage over the third place car of Hehman. Tom Ault worked his way into the fourth position. At the halfway point, Hines held a half straight lead over Clark, who was a half straight ahead of Hehman in third. Ault and Tim Clark completed the top five. Ault moved into the third spot bringing Tim Clark with him to fourth and putting Hehman back to fifth. Tim Clark was able to get around Ault for third on lap 15. Rick Gumm looped his machine on the backstretch, bringing out the caution with five to go. An incident on lap 19 just after the white flag brought the field to a halt, leading to a one lap shootout. Hines was able to hold on for the win followed by Troy Clark, Tim Clark, Mike Fields, and Hehman completing the top five.

Mark Bruce and Todd Gilpin led the field to the green in the Bomber feature with Gilpin leading lap one. Aaron Fields took second away from Bruce on lap two, then took the lead from Gilpin on the same lap. Brandon Reed spun in turn four bringing out the caution on lap four. On the restart, Fields and Gilpin ran side by side for the lead before Gilpin edged ahead of Fields going down the backstretch. Fields would hold the lead as they came around to complete lap five. Davey Waggoner Jr spun coming out of turn two on lap six, bringing out the yellow. A multi car accident in turn two would take out the second place running car of Gilpin, along with three others. This would put Jim Pfeiffer into the second spot now with only five laps complete. The restart would see Fields lead and a battle for second begin to take shape between Pfeiffer and Bruce. At the halfway point it was Fields, Bruce, Pfieffer, Ron Pardue, and Brandon Reed completing the top five. The yellow flew again on lap 12 as Pardue spun in turn four. An incoming storm knocked part of the lights out, but the racers deemed it safe to continue. On the restart, Fields opened up a four car length lead over Bruce and the rest of the field. With five to go, Reed moved around Pfeiffer to take the third spot coming out of turn two. With two to go, Fields held close to a half straight lead over Bruce and was able to hold that advantage to the checkers to pick up the win. Completing the top five was Bruce, Reed, Pfeiffer, and Kelly Lee.

Josh Phelps led the field to the green in the Pure Stock feature with Brent Howard in second. Phelps enjoyed the lead througout the event, fending off challenges from Mickey Hines, Tim Roberts, Howard, and Danny Hupp. A great battle for second through fourth between the afforementioned drivers ensued just past the midway point of the 20 lap feature. Phelps was able to take his #30 to the win ahead of Roberts, Howard, Hupp, and Willie Sallee

Brandon Norman unofficially took the lead about four times late in the Hornet feature, only to see it brought back due to cautions. Norman would use the low side to his advantage, getting around Ryan Scott with just a few laps remaining. Norman started in the fourth position, and maneuvered his way around Lucas Jackson and Dustin Foster to take the second position. Jackson pressured both Scott and Norman at the end of the feature, but had to settle for the third position. Scott made one last ditch effort to take the win coming out of turn four, but couldnt make the pass on Norman. Norman won by a car length over Scott. Jackson, RJ Perry, and Chris Corbin completed the top five.
